Astoundingly beautiful.
The drummer over play ed the pianist’s solo.
Sad to say…..the bass solo too long!

Heres the problem when musicians start twisting and flipping everything upside down and sideways. It serves them....not the audience. The average listener can't follow all this. Same with Coltrane in his later years with all the free flowing modal stuff. Only the musicians get it. What happens is the players get bored with the routine solos. So they branch out to see how creative they can make it while remaining inside the changes. But creative doesn't always sound good when you get out on the egde of the tonal range. You can't even recognize the song anymore. When we play a gig who are we playing for? Ourselves ? Or the folks who came to see us?
for example, without late coltrane we would not have brecker, so we are lucky that there are musician that dont play only for audience
@@antonini94 Then don't bother with bringing in an audience. Just set up in somebodys house somewhere and the musicians can play all day for themselves. All due respect to the great John Coltrane but in his later years he sounded like a 10 yr old practicing their beginning sax. Sinatra never felt the need to go off in left field from what he did very well....singing and swinging with clean orchestrations. People never got tired of it.
@@blue81blue81 if you can't understand avantguard music you dont have to judge. There are a lot of people who like also intellectual music, even its less commercial
@@antonini94 "If you can't understand avantguard music you don't have to judge". I believe you are the one being judgmental...... when you ASSUME I don't understand it. I'm a pianist. I do understand all of it. Yes there are some people like yourself who like abstract modal interpretation but certainly not a lot. So little in fact as to be insignificant. Progressive jazz just doesn't sell. You have every right to like what you like. I have every right to express an opinion in this public forum. If you are concerned you won't like the comments then don't read them.
@@blue81blue81this isn’t even that abstract lol. It’s just rhythm changes. Also you’re assuming that the audience doesn’t like this just because you don’t. Maybe get your ears checked if you don’t like this music and can’t hear the audience clapping while obviously enjoying themselves.
Musical mastery, but I thought it seemed a bit stilted

Excellent ! You did an excellent arrangement. If the piano sound were less brilliant, would be even better. Congratulations.

J3PO before J3PO became J3PO!
Oh my god, it is the early mr. J3po…….
Ужас! На одной ноте
BELLÍSIMA INTERPRETACION!! BRAVO!!
jadoor
Hello, I made this transcription of Waterfall's solo when I saw this video. I found it incredible, I hope you enjoy it --> ruclips.net/video/fg4FgputNoI/видео.html
Worst thing I heard Julian do.
Jeez! I love these guys!
Julian and his trio here are amazing! This concert footage provides a master class on all three instruments. How is it possible there are less than a dozen comments here?
Probably because not all person understand this modern way to play...or because are jeaolus!
因为爵士没有市场
Revelation. Didn't expect that.
Dreams of Music. Beautiful.
🙄💙🌱🌾
first 20 seconds i knew it was too modern cliche sry on to the next one
I heard a bit of Brad, tiny amount of Keith, and even slightly less Bill. We are all influenced by those we admire but Julian seems to have developed his own sound and style. I liked his references to classical as well (Bach and even some Chopin). I thoroughly enjoyed his performance and expect many years of success for this young artist. Thank you for posting!
ooh, this is so well put. You should be a music critic.
"a bit of brad" man it wouldnt sound any more like brad if he was playing it himself
cheee te pareces a bill, y que mas ehhhhhh.-
He's J3PO!! Now ik why he's so good.
Un…………believable solo playing.
